On July 10, groundbreaking ceremonies were held in Wuyishan, Fujian, for the tea industry’s first dedicated 5G smart manufacturing facility and the 1938 Zhengyan Plaza project, spearheaded by the Huaxiangyuan tea group. The event highlights the integration of cutting-edge industrial IoT technology into traditional rock oolong (Yancha) processing.
Wuyi rock tea production is renowned as one of the world’s most labor-intensive and environmentally sensitive artisanal crafts, requiring delicate control over solar withering, enzymatic shaking (Zuoqing), and charcoal roasting. The newly initiated 5G facility will implement real-time environmental sensors, automated climate regulation, and optical leaf-sorting robotics to optimize baseline processing parameters while honoring master-led charcoal roasting traditions.
