Xishuangbanna Releases Technical Regulations for Tea Processing Facility Construction

To standardize the physical infrastructure and sanitary conditions of tea production facilities, the Xishuangbanna Market Supervision Administration officially released Technical Regulations for the Construction of Tea Processing Facilities (DB5328/T21-2022). The standard applies to all newly constructed, expanded, and renovated tea processing facilities within the prefecture.

The standard establishes meticulous criteria for factory siting, requiring safe separation from industrial pollution sources, ample natural ventilation, and protected clean water supplies. Within processing workshops, the regulation mandates smooth, non-absorbent, food-grade surfaces, segregated functional zones (separating raw leaf withering, rolling, drying, and packaging), and dedicated dust and heat extraction systems.

Implementing these architectural guidelines ensures that traditional Yunnan craftsmanship is supported by modern hygienic facilities, safeguarding tea purity from the earliest processing stages.
